Exodus Over Dinner

Where Leaders Break Bread

Some of the most important conversations don't happen in conference rooms.

They happen around a dinner table.

Exodus Over Dinner is a national leadership initiative that brings Black leaders, Jewish leaders, and Black-Jewish leaders together for shared meals and courageous conversation. Through storytelling, thoughtful dialogue, and relationship-building, participants explore history, identity, leadership, and our shared responsibility to build a more connected future.

At Challah and Soul, we are proud to partner with Exodus Over Dinner because we believe meaningful relationships begin with listening, grow through trust, and create lasting change far beyond a single evening.

What Happens Around the Table

Each gathering is intentionally designed to foster authentic connection.

Participants share a family-style meal, engage in facilitated conversations rooted in personal experience, and reflect on the histories, values, and hopes that shape who they are. The evening begins with a moment of remembrance, honoring those who inspired us to stand up for others, and concludes with gratitude and an invitation to continue the relationships beyond the table.

The goal isn't agreement.

It's understanding.

Why It Matters

More than 800 leaders across eight states have participated in Exodus Over Dinner, building relationships that have sparked new collaborations, strengthened networks of trust, and inspired collective action. For Challah and Soul, this partnership reflects our belief that when leaders choose curiosity over assumption and relationship over division, that impact extends into organizations, congregations, neighborhoods, and communities.
